The Singapore Broadcasting Authority (SBA) has commissioned Breakthrough, a 13-episode series on science and technology. Funded by SBA at a cost of $286,000, it will make its debut on CNA tomorrow, 19 January 2002 at 10.30pm.
Breakthrough is a showcase of cutting-edge and exciting scientific and technological developments done right here in Singapore. Besides keeping viewers abreast of new happenings in the science and technology arena, the series also looks at how local researchers and practitioners are probing the edge in areas such as molecular medicine, robotics and environmental technology, and what these mean for all of us.
What is the Human Genome Project all about? Just how close are we to designing drugs that recognise our genetic profile? Are we ready for NEWater out of the tap? And can fats replace disease-causing virus as agents used to introduce genes into the body in therapeutic DNA? Find out in Breakthrough.
