The global organiser of the World Cyber Games 2005, International Cyber Marketing, Inc. (ICM) has appointed MediaCorp TV Singapore to be the host broadcaster of the event to be held in November this year. Held annually since the year 2000, the World Cyber Games is the world’s largest “Cyber Game Festival” where the best gamers around the world gather to pit their skills against one another in the exhilarating virtual world of computer and video game tournaments. Singaporeans can experience the excitement of the games through daily one-hour broadcasts on MediaCorp TV Channel U and TV Mobile.
Cyber gaming has been growing in popularity around the world. Since WCG Challenge started, WCG has broken the language barrier between cultures and made cyber games almost like a “second common language” for the world after sports. Participants of the WCG Grand Finals has increased from 389 in 2001 to an expected 800 players from 70 countries this year.
