US$100 Million Media Financing Facility Set Up In Singapore

Dated: 13 July 2005

Singapore’s bid to become a global media exchange for media products and services today received a further boost with the set-up of a US$100 million media financing facility. This facility will be used to invest in media content projects and is open to all film producers, including Singaporeans.

This media financing facility will be managed by RGM Holdings, an international talent management and executive production company which also announced the establishment of their headquarters in Singapore today.

Established in 1982, RGM is one of the largest talent management companies outside of the USA and its stable of talent represented includes international stars such as Cate Blanchett and Anthony LaPaglia. Building on its core strengths in talent management, RGM has expanded into the executive production business, offering the full spectrum of services from financing, production to distribution.

The Singapore office will be the base for RGM’s expansion into Asia and the holding company for the group worldwide. With the launch of the media financing facility and set-up of RGM’s headquarters in Singapore, regional and international productions can now be financed, produced and distributed from Singapore.

On the company’s decision to base its operations in Singapore, Mr Devesh Chetty, Co-Chairman of RGM said, “The Asian regions are amongst the fastest growing territories in the world. Singapore is a natural choice for our expansion into Asia given the copyright protection and accessible infrastructure in place. Through the media financing facility, we hope to attract world-class projects to Singapore and the region.”

Commenting on RGM’s presence in Singapore, Dr Tan Chin Nam, Chairman, Media Development Authority said, “We welcome RGM as a partner to Singapore’s media industry. The launch of the media financing facility is a significant development for the Singapore media industry as it will generate new creative and business opportunities for the industry and heighten Singapore’s profile in the global media arena.”

RGM was established in 1982 in Australia to represent the finest artistes out of the country, such as Cate Blanchett (Elizabeth, The Aviator), Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace, A View From The Bridge) and Essie Davis ( A Streetcar Named Desire, Charlotte’s Web). In 1998, it expanded its business to include executive production, making RGM a one-stop agency providing media talent and services to meet the needs of every stage of the media production process, from scripting to direction to production.
