MDA, FORTUNE STAR, S’PORE’S INNOFORM MEDIA AND BOKU FILMS INK DEAL TO CO-PRODUCE ACTION THRILLER

Dated: 29 November 2006

The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA), Fortune Star Entertainment (HK) Limited (“Fortune Star”), Singapore’s video and movie distributor, Innoform Media and Singapore production company, Boku Films today announced that they have entered into an agreement to co-produce a full length Mandarin action thriller film entitled, “Rule Number One”.

Written and directed by Singapore director Kelvin Tong (“The Maid”, “Love Story”), the thriller is targeted to start production in mid 2007. The story centres on the calls received by the Police Force every day. Each day, the Police Force receives 185 phone calls. Of these, 180 are about rapes, murders, robberies and kidnappings. The other five begin with ""There's something strange in my house..."". Rule Number One tells the shocking story of the men who take those five calls.

Under the agreement, MDA and Fortune Star will fund the production together with Innoform Media and Boku Films. Fortune Star will be responsible for distributing the film worldwide and will work closely with Innoform in distributing the film in Singapore and Malaysia.

Mr Peter E Poon, General Manager of Fortune Star said, “We are delighted to work with the MDA on “Rule Number One” as they have shown great support in getting this project together from day one. Talented director Kelvin Tong has developed a highly compelling story with “Rule Number One” and we look forward to bringing this exciting script to the big screen for audiences worldwide and while also securing another high quality original title for our viewers on the Star Chinese Movies channel.”

Dr Christopher Chia, Chief Executive Officer of MDA said, “This collaboration marks another milestone for the Singapore media industry. It reaffirms MDA’s commitment to support and develop Made-by-Singapore content for the global audience. It is a win-win Asian partnership to showcase creative Asian talents and original Asian content.”

Director Kelvin Tong said: ""It is a huge honour collaborating with Hong Kong on an edgy movie like Rule Number One alongside the Media Development Authority of Singapore. I see this film as a great opportunity to introduce even more movie-goers around the world to Singapore cinema.""

Mr Lim Teck, General Manager of InnoForm said, “We are happy to be part of this exciting collaboration, and are sure that with the expertise each party is bringing to the project, this film will be a huge success! This project represents InnoForm Media’s commitment in producing high quality movies, and we are confident Kelvin will deliver another great movie.”
