ScreenSingapore announces Zhang Ziyi as Event Ambassador

Zhang Ziyi joins list of hi​gh profile international names confirmed as ambassadors for June 2011 event

The Board of ScreenSingapore announced today international superstar Zhang Ziyi (HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA), has formalised her support for the inaugural event, joining a host of distinguished figures within the international film community as an event Ambassador. Albert Lee, Oliver Stone, Wayne Wang and Harold Shaw are among the list of high profile names previously announced along with CJ Group VP Miky Lee and Kishore Lulla of Eros International.

The constantly growing list of such high profile artists and professionals as the event approaches exemplifies the continuing support the multi-million dollar event is receiving from across the globe.

Commenting on her new appointment Zhang Ziyi said, “ScreenSingapore will no doubt prove to be a meaningful event, a platform from where both Asian and Western cinema will flourish together, promoting cross-cultural working relationships and helping bring international projects to an even wider audience. It is an honour to be involved with such an exciting project.”

As announced earlier this month by the Board of ScreenSingapore LARRY CROWNE, the brand new feature film from two-time Academy Award®winner Tom Hanks, who directs, co-writes and co-stars, along with Academy Award®winner Julia Roberts, will be the Closing Night Gala on Saturday, June 11. Tom Hanks will attend this Asia Pacific premiere at the newly refurbished and iconic Shaw Organisation’s Lido Theatre on Orchard Road in the heart of Singapore.

To be held from 5 to 12 June 2011, ScreenSingapore, the first international cinema event in Singapore, aims to bring together movie stars, renowned directors and eminent film industry professionals to exchange ideas, business opportunities and showcase film products. Leveraging on the growing interest in Asian content, the very strong theatrical marketplace and Singapore’s position as a globally connected regional gateway, ScreenSingapore is set to reinforce Singapore as the global media capital of the region.
