Crowdsourcing Consumers' Mobile Broadband Experience
MyConnection SG is a mobile application that utilises voluntary crowdsourcing to improve the quality of experience for mobile broadband users. My Connection SG gathers usage experience from users' mobile phones, such as broadband speed, latency and coverage on mobile cellular networks such as 3G and 4G, as well as on Wi-Fi networks. This will allow IMDA to have a better understanding of mobile broadband performance and take measures to improve consumers' usage experience.
MyConnection SG, designed to run in the background of a mobile phone, will collect and send the information in anonymised form back to IMDA. The information will form various sets of data points that can be used to assess the mobile network operators' performance collectively.
MyConnection SG is available for both iOS and Android users. Interested participants can download the mobile application by searching for "MyConnection SG" on both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store for Android Users.
IMDA would like to thank all participants of MyConnection SG for their continual support towards the improvement of mobile service experience in Singapore. As more users participate in MyConnection SG, IMDA will be able to gather more data points for better accuracy in the results.
IMDA will publish the MyConnection SG results twice every year. The publication is to increase information transparency to help consumers make informed choices on their mobile broadband plans and encourage operators to improve the usage experience for consumers.

IDA (now IMDA) launched the MyConnection SG mobile application as a Pilot in October 2014. It was intended to complement the IMDA Quality of Service ("QoS") framework, allowing IMDA to have a better understanding of wireless broadband performance and consumers' service or usage experience. The mobile application utilises voluntary crowdsourcing to gather the quality of experience anonymously from mobile users, such as broadband speed, latency and coverage on 3G and 4G cellular mobile networks, as well as usage experience on Wi-Fi networks.
The Pilot was a success as the results from the Pilot had been very useful in identifying areas for improvement in our local mobile networks. With the successful conclusion of the pilot in Jun 15, IDA (now IMDA) has decided that MyConnection SG will continue to be made available to iOS and Android users via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store respectively.
Moving forward, MyConnection SG will be improving the user interface of the application to give participants a better user experience. My Connection SG aims to attract more participants into the programme and welcomes any feedback that could help to improve the application.
