Singapore, 9 November 2001 | For Immediate Release

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has reduced the annual licence fees payable by Services-Based Operators (SBO) licensed individually1, to a flat annual fee of S$5,000 with immediate effect. This was announced today by the Mr Yeo Cheow Tong, Minister for Communications and Information Technology, at the AT&T "Bridging Businesses and 21st Century Networking Technology" Seminar.

This fee reduction is a result of IDA's review of its licensing framework, taking into consideration market developments after more than one year of liberalisation, feedback from the industry, and the current economic situation. The fee reduction, from the previous fee levied at 1% of Annual Gross Turnover (subject to a minimum of S$10,000) to a flat annual fee of S$5,000, represents a 50% fee reduction at least for all the current 119 SBO (Individual) licensees and new entrants.
