Singapore, 16 October 2009 | For Immediate Release

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore will be leading a delegation of nine infocomm companies to Dubai this weekend to participate in the largest ICT tradeshow in the Middle East. GITEX Technology Week 2009 will take place from 18 to 22 October 2009.

Exhibiting under the Infocomm Singapore banner, these companies will showcase infocomm products and solutions relating to ICT infrastructure and security, as well as award-winning e-Government solutions such as the Online Business Licensing System.

RADM(NS) Ronnie Tay, CEO of IDA said, “The Middle East remains an important market for Singapore infocomm companies. As the region actively invests in ICT and infrastructure to support growing population and economic growth, there continues to be a strong demand for innovative and tested infocomm solutions.”

IDA’s Middle East office was set up in 2007 to promote and facilitate collaborations between Singapore and Middle East in the area of ICT. “Our infocomm companies have sound technological know-how and many have successfully implemented sector-wide infocomm projects in Singapore. Given that many of the Middle East governments are embarking on their respective ICT journeys, these companies are naturally well-equipped to contribute their relevant expertise and solutions. Participation at GITEX will provide our Singapore companies the opportunity to profile their strong infocomm capabilities.” said Mr Shaik Umar, Centre Director for IDA Middle East Office.

Besides leading a delegation to GITEX, IDA will also host an Infocomm Singapore Networking Reception at the pavilion to facilitate networking and business match-making between the nine companies and potential Middle East ICT customers.

The Infocomm Singapore brand is a collective brand identity which communicates the quality and uniqueness of Singapore's infocomm capabilities, products and services. The brand vision is for Singapore's infocomm industry to be the world’s most trusted, intelligent and results-oriented solutions provider, offering a competitive edge to business partners. It is adopted as the theme for all infocomm-related tradeshows organised or supported by IDA.
