The first Smart Work Centres located at Jurong Regional Library, Geylang East Public Library and Toa Payoh Public Library officially opened today. Operated by global flexible workspace provider Regus in collaboration with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and National Library Board (NLB), the Regus Express Centres widen the range of flexible workspace options, enabling people to work closer to home, and facilitate work-life balance and productivity.
The three Regus Express centres stem from the IDA's initiative to set up Smart Work Centres around Singapore, to bring work closer to homes and the community. The Centres offer a professional work environment designed to cater to different modes of work and are equipped with typical office facilities. There will be private workstations, meeting spaces as well as facilities such as secure Wi-Fi, printing, copying and video-conferencing services.
With these Centres located in residential hubs and conveniently accessible via public transport, their users can work closer to home. At the same time, they can enjoy easy access to the library's collection of books, information resources, audio-visual materials and programmes including those organised by the Centres, to enhance their working and learning experience.
Employers who offer flexible work arrangements would be able to tap on a more diverse recruitment pool such as homemakers, which may be especially beneficial in light of the tight labour market. Companies can also benefit from more flexibility in workspace planning and be more agile in matching real estate needs to dynamic economic conditions.
Individuals can choose from options to access the Centres' pay per use facilities, ranging by the hour to a monthly membership offering that provides unlimited access, without the need to commit to traditional long term lease for workspaces.
