MDA extends public consultation on proposed mobile TV policies

Dated: 28 December 2007

The Media Development Authority of Singapore (MDA) will be extending by two weeks the deadline for a public consultation exercise on the Authority’s proposed policy and regulatory framework for mobile TV services.

The public can now submit their comments to MDA at mda_mtvs_comment@imda.gov.sg on or before 12 noon, 18 January 2008.

Following the commencement of the exercise on 21 November 2007, industry players have indicated that they would like additional time to offer more comprehensive feedback on the proposed changes, which cover areas such as technology standards, licensing framework, market structure issues and advertising regulation.

Members of the public are also welcome to share their views on the proposed framework for mobile TV services, such as whether television programmes offered on mobile handsets should comply with the existing TV Programme Code to protect consumers from harmful or sensitive content.

Full details of the proposed framework can be found at www.mda.gov.sg/RegulationsAndLicenses/Consultation/Pages/ConsultationPapers.aspx
