SG Digital

Giving seniors more reasons to smile

We are here to help our seniors take their next step in going digital!

Though making the digital leap may seem like a big hurdle, all it takes is a single step—and we are here to help our seniors in their journey. Whatever their existing familiarity with tech, this programme is tailored for seniors to Go Digital and have fun doing it.

Learn how to go digital

With safe distancing measures likely here to stay, digitalisation offers a way for seniors to continue living life to the fullest. From using video calls to connect with friends and family to buying products at hawker centres and wet markets, and even using SingPass Mobile for SafeEntry, the possibilities are endless online.

There is a wealth of online resources available for seniors to get started, such as Digital Pod webinars and Virtual Digital Clinics providing one-to-one assistance

For more information on these online resources, click on the button below.

To help seniors along the learning programme, Digital Ambassadors will soon be stationed at familiar places like public libraries and community centres nearby.

On the ground, the SG Digital Office will mobilise Digital Ambassadors to help 100,000 seniors through one-to-one or small group classes, including interactive learning journeys. The learning programme for each senior will be tiered according to their digital needs, and seniors will be guided through 3 tiers of digital skills:

Tier 1 Seniors will learn how to use basic communication tools, including messaging and making video calls on WhatsApp, subscribing to Gov.sg, setting up Wireless@SGx and cybersecurity tips
Tier 2Seniors will learn how to use Government digital services, such as SingPass Mobile for SafeEntry and cybersecurity tips
Tier 3Seniors will learn how to use e-payment tools, like using SGQR codes at markets and hawker centres, Internet banking apps and cybersecurity tips

There are 3 ways for seniors to learn:

  1. Online Learning

You can start picking up the 3 tiers of digital skills online at your own pace. You can also get one-on-one help online through the Virtual Digital Clinic, and speak to friendly corporate volunteers to answer your queries on using mobile phones. Also check out the free webinars which are available through the Digital Pod series covering a new topic every week!

  3. Learning Journey and Small Group Classes

Embark on Learning Journeys to discover how you can use various digital apps to enrich your everyday life. Guided by our Digital Ambassadors, our Learning Journeys comprise classroom-based training as well as an interactive hands-on activity where you can immediately try out your newfound digital skills. Here are some Learning Journeys to look out for in the coming months:

    • E-payment Learning Journey - Learn how to make e-payments on your mobile phone! With e-payments made available, simply bring along your phone to pay for items and embark on a cashless journey.
    • Library Learning Journey - Discover how to borrow books, access online resources such as e-books and newspapers, and sign up for library classes through the NLB app.

Small group classes will also be organised to provide you with an interactive classroom environment that encourages hands-on practice. These sessions can also be organised on request by community partners.
