Media Education Scholarship (MES)

last updated 25 April 2018

The Media Education Scholarship nurtured close to 200 media professionals and industry leaders since 2003.

The Media Education Scholarship (MES) is an initiative launched in 2003 to build and nurture industry leaders in the media industry. Since its inception, over 200 scholars have established themselves in the Singapore Media industry.

The MES was further enhanced in January 2012 to include industry collaboration through direct job-matching of scholars to companies, so as to better align to industry demands and requirements, and set a clearer career path for MES scholars.

The application period for the Media Education Scholarship 2018 is now closed.
Please check back in late 2018-early 2019 for updates.

  • Tuition fees and other compulsory university fees will be sponsored by IMDA. An annual allowance from the sponsoring media company will be given to the MES scholar to defray living expenses during the period of study;
  • Job opportunity with the sponsoring media company, where the MES scholar will be developed as a media professional or groomed for a leadership role during the bond period;

Training, internship and career opportunities in editorial, interactive media, journalism, TV production and media management will be extended to the MES scholar.

Applications are now open. Please click here for a list of MES 2018 participating Media Industry partners.

In 2013, IMDA introduced a film category, MES (Film), to nurture talent pursuing independent film careers.

Aspiring film-makers can opt for MES (Film) and work in the Singapore film industry upon completion of studies. MES (Film) scholars will have their tuition fees and other compulsory university fees sponsored by IMDA.

Singapore citizens with the aspiration to transform and create a positive impact on the media industry can apply for MES and MES (Film).

While applicants are not required to have secured a placement at the point of application, they must have applied to an institution for admission to a full-time media-related undergraduate or postgraduate programme.

Applicants who have already started their undergraduate or postgraduate programme with at least one semester left  can also apply for a mid-term scholarship.

Male applicants must have completed or be exempted from National Service at the time of their study.
