Second and Final Extension of Consultation Process

In consideration of further requests for more time to provide feedback to the “Public Consultation on Proposed Amendments to the Films Act (FA)”, IMDA has granted a second extension until 30 December 2017, 5pm, Singapore time, two weeks after the original deadline of 15 December 2017.
This extension is final. There will be no further extensions.
The mode of submission for comments on our proposals remains the same. IMDA looks forward to receiving your comments.
Extension of Consultation Process

MDDI and IMDA are conducting a public consultation on the proposed amendments to the Films Act (FA) to bring the Act up-to-date given the changes in the media landscape, to formally establish a co-classification scheme for films up to PG13 rating, and to introduce a class licence for video games retailers. The proposals also include clarifications to the regulatory scope of the FA and changes to the processes for appeals against IMDA’s decisions. As IMDA takes on investigations into breaches of the FA, its investigation and enforcement powers will be enhanced accordingly.

MDDI and IMDA invite interested parties to submit written comments on our proposals. The submission format and details are set out in Part 3 of the consultation paper.
