Extension of deadline for compliance with Paragraph 3.2D(b) of Media Market Conduct Code (“MMCC”)

In response to a request from a pay TV operator for extension of timeline, IMDA has granted an extension of the implementation deadline to 30 May 2017. Pay TV operators are expected to comply with the requirements by the stipulated deadline.

Supplement to the Closing Note for the Public Consultation on Review of Consumer Protection Measures in Media Market Conduct Code (“MMCC”)

Following the issuance of the Closing Note for the Public Consultation on Review of Consumer Protection Measures in MMCC, MDA has gazetted the amendments to the MMCC on 29 April 2016. The amendments will come into effect on 30 April 2016, unless otherwise specified in the MMCC or by MDA. Please refer to the link below for the amendments.
As there were further queries from pay TV operators on the application and implementation of the requirements, MDA has consolidated these queries and our responses can be found in the link below for the industry’s reference. MDA has also limited the obligations of the Regulated Persons under Paragraphs 3.2A to 3.2F, 3.5A and 3.5B of the MMCC to individual consumers, as set out in the Information Circular below.

Extension of Consultation Process

In consideration of the requests from industry players for more time to provide feedback to the “Public Consultation on Review of Consumer Protection Measures in Media Market Conduct Code (“MMCC”)”, MDA has extended the consultation until 5 November 2014, 5pm, Singapore time, two weeks after the original deadline of 22 October 2014.
The mode of submission for comments on our proposals remains the same. MDA looks forward to receiving your comments.

MDA is conducting a public consultation on the proposed revisions to Paragraph 3 of the MMCC (“Regulated Persons’ Duties to End-Consumers”), which contains provisions pertaining to the protection of consumers’ interest.
