Singapore, 02 April 2004| For Immediate Release
As part of its efforts to enable the deployment of high-speed wireless broadband services in Singapore, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has released a public consultation paper today.
The paper invites the industry and public to provide feedback and comments on the potential of and spectrum issues regarding wireless broadband technologies. The paper also welcomes comments on IDA's proposed commercial trial licence framework and the use of 3G spectrum bands to deploy wireless broadband technologies. The consultation exercise is in line with IDA's on-going efforts to engage the public in its decision-making process and to increase regulatory transparency.
This consultation exercise is part of IDA's overall strategy to stimulate the development of wireless broadband services and applications in Singapore. IDA had previously announced on 23 February 2004 that it will dedicate the 2.3 GHz and 2.5 GHz spectrum bands for wireless broadband trials and deployment.
All views and comments should be submitted in writing to reach IDA not later than 12 noon on 30 April 2004. IDA will consider all submitted inputs and take them into account when formulating policies regarding wireless broadband.
The public consultation paper can be downloaded from the IDA website (https://www.imda.gov.sg/) under the "Consultation Papers" section of the "Policy & Regulation" page.
