Joint mapping exercise between Singapore IMDA and the US NIST

IMDA AI Verify and NIST AI Risk Management Framework (RMF) are aligned

SINGAPORE – 13 OCT 2023

As part of Singapore – U.S. Partnership for Growth and Innovation (PGI), Singapore Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have completed the joint mapping exercise between IMDA AI Verify and NIST AI RMF and published a crosswalk.

AI RMF aims to offer a resource to the organizations using and deploying AI systems to help manage and mitigate risks arising from the use of AI systems and ensure responsible development and use of the AI.

AI Verify is an AI governance testing framework and software toolkit. AI Verify aims to help companies be more transparent about their AI systems to build trust. Both frameworks share common outcomes in promoting trustworthy and responsible AI.

The development of the crosswalk is an important step towards harmonisation of international AI governance frameworks to reduce industry’s cost to meet multiple requirements. The joint effort also signals Singapore’s and the US’ common goal of balancing AI innovation, maximising benefits of AI technology while mitigating technology risks.
