IMDA Ramps Up Support for Fresh Graduates Pursuing Tech Careers

Fresh IDT Graduates across ITEs, polytechnics and universities will benefit from industry exposure, sector-specific training, and a one-stop tech career platform to become industry-ready

SINGAPORE – 10 APR 2026

1. Senior Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, and Health, Mr Tan Kiat How, today announced that the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) will expand TIP Alliance1 to include local information and digital technology (IDT) university graduates. The new programme, TIP Alliance+2, will strengthen students’ industry readiness and boost career opportunities through structured learning pathways, hands-on industry experience and comprehensive career preparation.

2. TIP Alliance+ will include new initiatives such as a Government Tech Pathway developed with GovTech and Singapore Computer Society (SCS), and a Tech Elevation and Career Hub (TECH) in partnership with NTUC’s e2i (Employment and Employability Institute). Together, these efforts will support fresh graduates from the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), polytechnics and universities over the next three years with skills development, industry exposure and career opportunities to thrive in Singapore’s digital economy.

Expanding Opportunities to IDT University Graduates through TIP Alliance+

3. Building on the success of the TIP Alliance initiative introduced in 20223, TIP Alliance+ will be expanded to include university students, extending its industry-led training model to more IDT graduates with structured career pathways, hands-on experience, and stronger industry partnerships.

4. Since its inception, TIP Alliance has demonstrated the value of deep industry partnerships, offering over 1,000 tech jobs and facilitating more than 2,300 year-long internship placements for ITE and polytechnic students. More than 200 employers have also adopted skills-based hiring practices4, moving beyond academic qualifications to better recognise industry-relevant skills.

5. With TIP Alliance+, fresh IDT university graduates will now gain access to the same structured support and opportunities, strengthening their ability to secure meaningful tech roles in Singapore.

Preparing IDT Graduates for Sector-Specific Tech Roles

6. IMDA is also working with industry partners to equip fresh IDT graduates with both technical capabilities and domain knowledge to better prepare them for industry needs. These pathways include a series of bite-size modules that help graduates to build specialised expertise and better understand how technology is applied across different sectors. This enables them to contribute more quickly and effectively on the job upon hiring.

7. For a start, IMDA is launching the Government Tech Pathway with GovTech and SCS to provide students with hands-on opportunities to build both technical and domain capabilities in areas such as governance, compliance, and public sector systems. This will prepare students for tech careers in both government and tech companies.

8. The Government Tech Pathway is the first of several sector-specific pathways that will be developed with increased collaborations between the public sector and industry. Moving forward, similar pathways are also being planned for sectors such as financial services and healthtech.

One Platform for Tech Jobs, Training and Career Resources

9. IMDA and e2i have also launched the Tech Elevation & Career Hub (TECH), a centralised online platform that brings together information on tech jobs, training programmes and career resources. As a one-stop portal, TECH makes it easier for fresh IDT graduates, jobseekers and mid-career professionals to explore opportunities across sectors, access relevant training, and navigate career pathways in the digital economy. To start, about 800 tech job and internship opportunities are available on TECH. Job seekers can access the website at: https://techjobs.e2i.com.sg/.

10. Together, these initiatives strengthen Singapore’s pipeline of tech talent by bringing together education, industry and employment opportunities. They will help ensure that fresh graduates are equipped with in-demand skills and can transition more quickly and confidently into meaningful tech careers.
