Internet Content Regulation

Singapore has a three-prong approach to Internet content standards and regulations.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is responsible for administering regulations and content standards in the infocomm industry in Singapore. Firstly, a light-touch class license scheme administered by the IMDA provides minimum standards to safeguard values and promote healthy growth. This is an automatic licensing scheme that requires Internet Service Providers and content providers to comply with an Internet Code of Practice. Secondly, industry self-regulation is encouraged. Thirdly, there is an active public education programme to promote parental supervision over children's access to the Internet.
