TAP provides funding support for both scripted and unscripted TV content with strong commercial potential and clear market demand.

The programme offers funding support for the following types of TV projects:

Regional co-productions

  • TV projects developed with regional partners and targeted at Southeast Asian and broader Asian markets.

Global co-productions

  • Global premium and mainstream TV content designed for international platforms and global distribution.

Licensed IP adaptations

  • TV projects based on existing intellectual property with proven commercial appeal.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

  • Be a Singapore-registered company.
  • Adopt the Tripartite Standards for Procurement of Services (TAFEP) for Media Freelancers.
  • Able to show proof of commissioner interest or commitment for the proposed project, e.g. letter of intent, deal memo, partnership agreement, etc.
Grant support

Grants are determined based on project expenses that IMDA qualifies for support – funding quantums are as follows: 

  • Up to 50% of qualified spend for SMEs / Up to 30% for non-SMEs
  • Scripted series:
  • IMDA’s funding will be capped at S$1 million per episode.
  • Applicants should also be aware that an overall project cap will apply for the whole project.
  • Unscripted series:
  • IMDA’s funding will be capped at S$700k per episode.
  • Applicants should also be aware that an overall project cap will apply for the whole project.
Mode of application

Interested applicants who meet all the eligibility criteria described above, may write to IMDA with your project proposal here.

Interested applicants who have yet to secure interest or commitment from commissioner(s) / platform(s), may participate in upcoming calls for participation that IMDA will launch with content commissioners / platforms / distributors. Should your project(s) be selected by the content commissioners / platforms / distributors for commissioning, you may then apply for IMDA’s TAP TV grant.

IMDA will publish open calls when they are available.

Proposals submitted must minimally include the following:

  • Project documentation
  • Detailed project proposal. Proposal to include:
  • Synopsis and key story arches. State number of episodes in series and duration per episode.
  • Target audience and state why concept will appeal to them.
  • Evidence of commissioner / platform interest or commitment.
  • Co-production partnership agreements or letters of intent.
  • Financial documentation
  • Detailed budget breakdown and financing plan.
  • Revenue projections and monetisation / commercialisation plan.
  • Creative documentation
  • Distribution and marketing strategy.
  • Evidence of genre expertise and target audience identification.
  • Creative team credentials and track record. Credentials of Showrunner/Producer, Director and Scriptwriter will be critical information.
