Speaker Name: Jimmy Lim
Jimmy has 15+ years of core industry experience working on wide range of corporate IP matters including licensing, litigation, analytics, competitive strategy and IP infrastructure programmes. He has rich experience in managing and supporting Panasonic businesses in the Asia ex Japan regions covering sectors such as wireless communications, energy, housing, industrial devices, etc. He has also successfully managed multi-millions dollar licensing programmes and currently he is leading the Intellectual Property Group (IPG) in this region. With extensive experiences, knowledge, and strong talents as well as being in a growing and strategic region for Panasonic, the team is envisioned to be the Centre of Excellence for corporate IP functions.
Speaker Name: Wong Ji Sam
Designation: Senior IP Analyst
Ji Sam is a Senior Intellectual Property Analyst at IPG. As part of this role, he has performed technical analyses of a wide variety of patents and has also utilized some of them in patent licensing negotiations with external parties. He remains fascinated with the numerous ways IP can assist with the creation and management of novel innovations that fuel businesses, and he is also currently driving efforts to improve on IP workflow processes though the use of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence.
Panasonic R&D Center Singapore is a core tech development hub primed to transform technologies into real applications. Through translating our core technologies in areas such as wireless, image processing & video technologies into real business advantages, we collaborate with customers to deliver effective system solutions, insights and innovation. Close to 3 decades of presence of Singapore have seen the center rising to become a foremost Research & Development Entity. The IPG is a team within the Center for providing One-Stop IP Consultancy Services, in conducting IP activities such as IP Monetisation, IP Intelligence and IP Risk Mitigation & Surveillance. As Panasonic operates one of the largest IP businesses in the world, with tens of thousands of patents granted for our technologies and concepts, IPG also supports our corporate HQ and its business teams in various aspects of technology management and IP protection. Some key responsibilities of IPG include patent infringement scouting, licensing support and infringement analysis, all of which involve understanding and analysing the technical aspects of the disclosed patents.
Speaker Name: Zafaran Khan
Designation: Assistant Vice President, Warees Investments Pte Ltd
Mr Zafaran Khan is an Assistant Vice President of Warees Investments Pte Ltd and concurrently holding the position of Senior Head (Operations) at Wareesan Management Pte Ltd.
He previously lead the NEA Phase 4 Muslim Exhumation Project to its successful completion in year 2015. He also oversaw the corporate function of Warees Investments Pte Ltd from HR, IT infrastructure, implementation and compliance of PDPA. During this time, Warees Investments Pte Ltd achieved ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Bizsafe Level 3. He is now leading his team in completing the NEA Phase 6 Muslim Exhumation Project and planning for the Phase 8 Muslim Exhumation Project which is slated to begin towards the end of this year.

Designation: Innovation Specialist, Singapore Innovation Center
Kane is an innovation specialist with 9+ years of industry experience in technology innovation, product development and project management.
At Ferrero, he is part of an international team responsible for scouting emerging/disruptive technologies for new product development. Specifically, Kane is working to develop the next generation of smart toys for Kinder Surprise/Joy, with a focus on new materials and electronics.
Ferrero is an Italian manufacturer of chocolate confectionery products and the third worldwide group in the chocolate confectionery market. The Ferrero Group is present with more than 40,000 people across 55 countries with 25 production plants around the world. Ferrero products are present and sold in more than 170 countries.
The Ferrero Innovation Center in Singapore is designed to strengthen Ferrero’s position as global innovation leader and will house several strategic innovation functions in the areas of health and nutrition, new raw materials and product research and development, consumer insight and foresight activities.
The goal of the Innovation Center is to create unique products, developing innovative research and production processes as well as using in-house technologies. The aspects that make this journey interesting are the passion for research, the desire to break down pre-existing paradigms, and the exploration of new places far from the traditional fenced-in disciplines.
Speaker Name: Dr. Mak Wai Keong
Dr. Mak is the CEO of Edtrix Innovation Pte. Ltd. He is also the Founder of Edtrix Solutions, an entity for educational and technology training and consultancy. He has a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.). He completed his Masters of Science (MSc) degree in Management of Technology and obtained his Bachelor of Science (Merit) in Chemistry and Mathematics from the National University of Singapore.
Dr. Mak is an Entrepreneur, Learning Innovator, Educator, and an avid technopreneur, whose motivation is to help people and organizations to "Make Learning Simple, Fun, and Effective."
Dr. Mak is on the Academic Board for Ngee Ann Academy, a private education institution by the Ngee Ann Kongsi in Singapore, to advise the institute on academic and education technology matters.
Dr. Mak is the Founder of Smart Cities Education that provides simplified education and teaching material to the younger generations on Environmental Sustainability, as well as to propel the movment for digital waste reduction (of digital content such as videos, images, and data information).
