What is this about?
Every ten years or so there is a revolution in the form of computing we use for work and play. We've gone from mainframes to laptops to smartphones in four decades. What's next? In this session a case will be presented that augmented and virtual reality represent the next form of computing. The session has a strong focus on what is possible today on existing technology, with a view to how you can use it to prepare for the future.
About the speaker?
Joe McGinn joined Google Singapore as a Producer to support VR and AR developers in the region. Prior to joining Google, he was lead game designer at Radical Entertainment, Activision-Blizzard, the Walt Disney Corporation, and Ubisoft. He led the design of Radical's breakout hit The Simpsons: Hit & Run, listed on Metacritic as the highest-rated Simpsons game of all time. His 2007 game Crash of the Titans was nominated for "Best Children's Video Game" by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA).
Joe also spent three years as Department Chair of Game Design & Production at DigiPen Singapore, where he created their first VR lab and game design courses
