IMDA’s Online Statement on Indosat’s Jakabare Cable Cut

SINGAPORE – 23 APR 2021

The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IMDA) is investigating the 5 April 2021 Jakabare submarine cable cut which was possibly caused by nearby construction works. Restoration work was promptly undertaken and completed on 6 April 2021. IMDA will take appropriate enforcement action against the relevant parties if they are found to have damaged telecommunications systems in contravention of the Telecommunications Act. More details will be published once investigations have been concluded. Singapore will continue to take the necessary preventive and swift remedial action should such incidents occur.
